Tim Allen, Ellen DeGeneres, Jim Carey all had to start somewhere, didn't they?  An open mic to a comic is like beginning your freshman year on a 10 year PHD program, and few receive their PHDs.  You go up cold and usually unfunny, and relish any sound that might be a snicker or a laugh.  But that's usually all it takes and you're hooked on the late nights and working hard to get more laughs.

For years Cap City Comedy has hosted an Open Mic night. And for years the Austin comedy scene has grown and produced some of the funniest comics working clubs today, writing and performing for hit TV shows, and some merging into the LA or NY industries with comlete success.That's why Cap City Comedy decided it's time to see what Open Mic can do on it's own.  Austinite's will be able to get a better glimpse into the world of "local" comedy and the best part of all--- attendees will be donating to a very worthy cause---$1 of the $2 ticket price will be donated to the "Austin Children Shelter."

We're looking forward to buiding on an already strong Austin comedy scene.
