Voted "One of the top Latino stand-up comedians in the country,"
Emmy Award winner, Mike Robles is probably best known as the host
of Galavision's two flagship shows, Video Mix, and Que Locos, which
he also served as executive producer. Currently, Mike Robles is
hosting Loco Comedy Jam on Mun2, an innovative network which is
a joint venture between NBC and Telemundo. This hysterical comedic
variety show with Latin flare debuted December 1st 2002.
Mike Robles will criss-cross the country touring both as a solo
artist and with the new live Loco Comedy Jam Tour. Robles has just
released his debut comedy CD entitled Totally Uncensored.
Of Puerto Rican decent, Mike Robles grew up in the Castle Hill
section of The Bronx, the same area which Jennifer Lopez was raised.
Robles spent five years working for TWA in customer relations listening
to complaints from irate customers all day long. He thought about
seeking therapy, but instead chose stand-up comedy. He decided to
leave TWA for good when he received a call from an irate passenger
who informed Mike "You guys lost my husband's casket."
Instead of sending the body to Hartford, CT., it was shipped to
Honolulu, Hawaii. The next day's headline read "Man arrives
late for his own funeral."
Since that time, Mike Robles has performed at all major comedy
clubs and colleges across the country, and has opened for many Latino
recording artists ranging from Marc Anthony to Tito Nieves. Robles
has the distinction of being the first Hispanic stand-up comedian
to perform at New York City's prestigious Public Theater.
Mike Robles is no stranger to television; in the 1990's he hosted
his own one-hour comedy/variety show Comedy Picante on Galavision.
This was followed by cult-cable access show Comedy Rhumba, which
aired on Manhattan cable television and was the recipient of two
Cable Ace award nominations for "Best Local Programming for
Comedy/Variety Show." The success of the television led to
Mike hosting "Comedy Rhumba Live," a monthly SRO engagement
at Caroline's Comedy Club in New York City. This enormous popularity
resulted in Mike hosting duties for Galavision and the national
"Que Locos" tour.
Mike Robles has created a loyal following that continues to grow.
He has received many distinguished awards for his achievements in
the Hispanic community, and has been praised by local politicians
and entertainers for being a role model to young Latinos. The NY
Daily News summed it up best "Not since Freddie Prinze's reign
has a Latino comic turned so many heads."
Joey Medina is best known as being one of the stars of Paramount
Pictures “The Original Latin Kings of Comedy,” with
Cheech Marin, Paul Rodriguez, George Lopez and Alex Reymundo. And
the Star and Morning Show Host of The Morning Invasion on Latino
96.3 FM in Los Angeles.
He recently starred in Martin Lawrence’s 1st Amendment Stand-up
comedy television show. Joey also recently Executive Produced and
Starred in his own comedy special and tour titled “Latin Palooza.”
Joey recently co-starred in the feature film “Zombie Strippers”
with Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger). He also co-stars
with movie star, Danny Trejo and B Real from the rap group, Cypress
Hill in an upcoming horror film titled “Devil Inside.”
Joey is a veteran of several television shows on many networks,
including HBO, Showtime and Comedy Central.
His first screenplay, “El Matador” in which he made
his directorial debut, swept the 8th Annual East Los Angeles Chicano
Film Festival in 2002 by winning Best Film, Best Director and Best
Acting awards. The film is currently available on video and DVD
through Maverick Entertainment.
Joey wrote, produced and hosted Si TV’s first scripted television
show, “Circumsized Cinema,” The show re-edited campy
Mexican movies into 30-minute “mini-movies” with totally
new, scripted English audio tracks for a hilarious and utterly original
half-hour television show. In addition, Joey is also recognized
as one of the hosts and producers of “Loco Comedy Jam,”
a stand-up comedy show featuring some of the best comedians in the
country on Mun2 Television.
A Puerto Rican who was born and raised in The Bronx, Joey spent
most of his teen years perfecting his boxing skills that earn him
the Arizona Lightweight Championship and a shot at the world title.
He went on to spend his early adult years as a police officer before
becoming a heavy-hitter in the comedy arena.
Joey has headlined almost every major club in the country and has
also toured Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Egypt, Israel, and was proud
to perform for the US Armed Forces during wartime in Bosnia, Kosovo,
Kuwait and Iraq twice.
Latin Style Magazine says “Joey is one of the few comedians
that can bridge together urban with mainstream comedy to make his
style a hit throughout the country.
